Put to Death the Old Life
Verse
"Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth..." Colossians 3:5
Teaching
Grace does not make sin harmless. Some things cannot be managed; they must be put to death. The old life survives through agreement, secrecy, repetition, and appetite. You cannot walk fully in resurrection while making peace with what Christ died to deliver you from.
Today, do not merely feel bad about a wrong pattern. Starve it, deny it, replace it, and bring it under the authority of Christ. What is not fed will eventually weaken. What is continually denied will lose its power. What is surrendered to Christ can be transformed by His grace.
The Christian life is not merely about forgiveness; it is about freedom. God does not simply pardon the old nature—He calls us to crucify it. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to help you break every sinful habit, destructive appetite, and ungodly attachment.
Walk away from compromise. Refuse every agreement with the flesh. Feed your spirit with God's Word, strengthen your life through prayer, and fill your mind with things that honour Christ. Resurrection life belongs to those who daily choose death to the old life and surrender to the new.
Quote
What you keep feeding, you keep strengthening.
Instruction
Identify one appetite, habit, reaction, or pattern that belongs to the old life. Refuse to feed it today, and identify the other things that support this wrong appetite.
