Watch and Pray
Verse
"Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and because of them we set a watch against them day and night." Nehemiah 4:9
Teaching
Faith does not deny danger; it responds with prayer and wise vigilance. The builders trusted God and set a watch. Spirituality without awareness can become carelessness, while vigilance without prayer becomes anxiety. Mature faith holds both together. You may need boundaries, accountability, planning, safeguarding, financial controls, or careful communication alongside prayer. Setting a watch is not evidence that God has failed. It can be the practical expression of wisdom He provides. Today, ask both, 'What should I pray?' and 'What should I put in place?'
