Present Your Body

NEW PASSAGE: Romans 12:1-2

1Ibeseechyou therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

3For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt toeach one a measure of faith.4For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function,5so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. 6Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let usprophesy in proportion to our faith; 7or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

Verse

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God…” Romans 12:1

Teaching

Consecration begins with presentation. God does not only want your thoughts, songs, and prayers; He wants your body yielded as an instrument of righteousness. Your body is not merely a container for your spirit; it is a weapon, a temple, and a witness. Today, refuse to let your body serve old appetites, old addictions, old reactions, old fears and ailments. Lay yourself on the altar before the day lays demands on you. As you present your body to God daily, remember that in the Old Covenant system, sick and maimed animals were not to be presented to God (Lev 22:22). Now, in the New Covenant, I believe this to mean that we can claim healing from God every time we present our bodies to Him.

Quote

“The body is not evil; it is the altar where obedience becomes visible.”

Instruction

Today, intentionally present your body to God meditatively. Pray over your eyes, ears, mouth, hands, feet, appetite, sexuality, strength, and energy. Declare: “My body belongs to the Lord.” Make time to do the “Healing Meditation” podcast accessible through the “Listen” section of this website.
