Take Your Position
NEW PASSAGE Habakkuk 2:1-4; 3:17-19 NKJV
Habakkuk 2: 1-4
1 I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected. 2 Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who reads it. 3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry. 4 “Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.
Habakkuk 3:17-19
17 Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— 18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. 19 The LORD God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills. To the Chief Musician. With my stringed instruments.”
Verse
"I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart, and watch to see what He will say to me." Habakkuk 2:1
Teaching
Habakkuk had questions he could not answer, but instead of allowing confusion to drive him into panic, he took his position before God. There are seasons when faith does not immediately receive an explanation. In such moments, our responsibility is not to manufacture an answer but to remain attentive to God. Habakkuk stood, watched, and waited. He knew the exact spot to position himself, because he had stood there before and got the result he needed. Spiritual maturity learns the difference between urgent activity and attentive waiting. Not every unanswered question requires immediate action. Sometimes God wants to quiet the noise around us so that we can recognise His voice more clearly. Waiting on God is not inactivity; it is a deliberate posture of expectation. Before making another move, give God room to speak.
Quote
"I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, and in His word I do hope."
- The Psalmist (Psalm 130:5)
