Crucifying the Flesh
Verse
"Those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." (Galatians 5:24)
Teaching
The cross is not only the place where Christ died for us; it is also the place where we learn to die with Him. Every disciple eventually discovers that spiritual growth requires surrender. Certain desires cannot be managed indefinitely; they must be crucified. This sounds severe until we realise that God only asks us to surrender what ultimately destroys us. The cross removes what hinders life so resurrection life can emerge. Every surrender creates room for greater freedom.
Quote
"Freedom often begins with a decisive no."
Instruction
Identify one appetite that regularly pulls you away from God. Fast from it for the remainder of the day.
