Be Merciful

Verse

"Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful." Luke 6:36

Teaching

Mercy begins with the Father's example, not the other person's deserving. God sees truth fully and still responds with compassion. Christian mercy does not erase justice, consequences, safeguarding, or wise limits. It refuses needless severity and remembers how much grace we ourselves require. A merciful person listens before concluding, corrects without humiliation, and leaves room for repentance. Mercy may sometimes say no, but it does not delight in another person's pain. Consider where impatience has made you harder than the situation requires. Those who have received mercy are called to make mercy visible.

Quote

"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you."
- The Apostle Paul (Ephesians 4:32)

Instruction

Identify one person you have judged harshly. Replace one severe response with a truthful, compassionate, and appropriately bounded one.
