The LCF Journey

The Beginning

In August 1988, Lincoln Serwanga and Grace Kalimuzo arrived in the UK at the invitation of Kensington Temple (KT) to attend a short course at its International Bible Institute of London (IBIOL). Engaged to be married, they decided to step into ministry training after spending most of 3 years serving together in worship, prayer, teaching, and evangelism across Uganda as part of a music ministry team.

Prophecy and Planting

Just after completing his degree in Agriculture, a well-attested prophetic friend had just prophesied to Lincoln that the Lord would take him abroad and raise him up in ministry there. KT was in the middle of an awakening and planting churches across the city. LCF was commissioned in March 1991. Newly married on March 18 1989, the young couple stepped out to serve in South East London.

Multiplication and Growth

Commissioned to reach new arrivals from East Africa, LCF grew in numbers and nationalities, peaking at over 700 members in the 2010s. The rapid growth occurred as tens of students from East Africa arrived in the UK to study. LCF was well known for quality worship, powerful preaching and innovative leadership.

Challenges and Battles

The search for suitable worship service venues, the dispersal of young families from London in search of cheaper housing, and a new, toughened immigration regime served to spread LCF membership over the years. leading to our passion for church planting, starting with North London. During the Covid lockdown, LCF lost its leased property in Camberwell, further necessitating the drive to plant locations in Croydon and Kent.

Refocus and Global Mission

LCF has now planted 2 other locations in Kampala and Mpigi in Uganda and is in the process of fully onboarding Mbale and Busiya, which were planted incidentally by one of LCF's spiritual sons. As the commission to go global emerges, Pastor Lincoln has taken on an overseeing role at LCF as he travels more extensively and regularly.

LCF has remodelled church and ministry culture around the principles of relational, missional discipleship. At the centre of our focus is building our church life on small groups of believers, living life together and reaching their neighbourhood and contacts with the good news.
