Shining the Light Of Jesus to the World

Our Beliefs

SUMMARY OF OUR BELIEFS

Here are some vital New Testament themes that will help give you an idea of, “…those things which are  most surely believed among us.” (Luke 1:1) We are not attempting to include all we believe from the Bible. We certainly do not claim to be without error in our interpretations. We welcome loving biblical dialog on matters where we may differ from your perspectives, “…until we all come to the unity of the faith…” (Ephesians 4:13).  According to our current understanding of the scriptures…

We believe:

…in the Bible, inspired by God, as the absolute and final authority for truth and salvation.

…in the one true and living God, manifested as the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost.

…in the virgin birth, miracle-performing life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

…in the sinfulness of mankind inherited through the disobedience of the first man, Adam.

…in the love of God shown by Christ dying in our place, on the cross, to pay for our sins.

…in salvation by grace through faith and not of works, but faith that shows itself by works.

…in receiving Jesus Christ as Savior, and calling on the name of the Lord, to be saved.

…in confessing the Lord Jesus, believing God miraculously raised Him from the dead.

…in repentance, as shown by a changed mind and life, according to the command of God.

…in water baptism (immersion), in the name of Jesus Christ, for all repentant believers.

…in being filled with the Holy Ghost, and speaking with other tongues, as the Spirit enables.

…in all the gifts of the Spirit actively functioning, as God wills, in the Christian church today.

…in the active work of the Spirit producing spiritual fruit, and continual growth, in Christ.

…in the commands of Christ and His Apostles to love, forgive, and care for one another.

…in the sanctity of marriage: with loving husbands who cherish their submissive wives.

…in children obeying their parents, and parents nurturing their children, in the Lord.

…in practicing genuine Christianity by serving God, and people, in meaningful ways.

…in holiness, in actions and attitudes, by separating ourselves from evil unto the Lord.

…in confessing our sins to God, as imperfect Christians, for forgiveness and cleansing.

…in merciful discipline by the church in correcting and restoring wayward Christians.

…in the local and universal church, regardless of ethnicity, united as the Body of Christ.

…in the gathering of people for heartfelt prayer, expressive praise and biblical preaching.

…in sharing bread and wine in, “Communion” to remember Christ’s body and blood.

…in supporting ministers and ministries with appreciation, respect, tithes and offerings.

…in spreading the Gospel to the entire world and the restoration of authentic Christianity.

…in the return of Jesus, when the dead and living in Christ will rise to meet Him in the air.

…in the final judgment, when all people shall receive their just reward in Heaven or Hell.

…in the ultimate triumph of righteousness, when faithful believers shall inherit eternal life.
